Four persons were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between an ambulance and an excavator in Gopalganj's Sadar upazila on Thursday (July 6) morning.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident took place in Arambagh area on the Dhaka-Khulna highway at 7:30 am.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Md Javed Masud confirmed the matter.

He said an ambulance while heading towards Dhaka from Khulna with a patient, collided head-on with an excavator, leaving one person dead on the spot and seven others injured.

Later, one died on the way to Gopalganj General Hospital and two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital on arrival, the OC added.
