Five Rohingyas killed in Ukhiya gunfight

At least five persons were killed in a gun battle between two rebel groups in a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya Upazila early Friday (July 7).

Of the deceased four were identified as Anwar Hossain, 24, Md Hamim, 17,  Nazibullah and Nurul Amin, 24.

The gunfight, involving Myanmar's separatist outfits the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO), broke out at camp No. 8 in Balukhali around 5:30 am on Friday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhia police station Sheikh Mohammad Ali confirmed the matter.

He said three of the victims died on the spot, while two passed away in the hospital. All of them were members of ARSA.

The opposing group fled immediately after the incident. APBN and police operation is going on to nab them, he added.
