FARIDPUR: BNP-led 18-party alliance called 24-hour hartal from Saturday in Nagarkanda and Saltha upazilas of the district protesting the killing of a Swechachasebak Dal activist in police firing.

Nagarkanda BNP president Giash Mandal in a rally made the announcement on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Upazila BNP general secretary Advocate Liakot Ali Khan Bulu, Upazila Jamaat general secretary Belal Hossain and others were present.

An activist of Swechachasebok Dal was killed during a clash with police during hartal on October 27.

Earlier, police held district unit vice-president Mufti Ismat Ullah Kashemi for his alleged involvement in killing of Awami League leader Nawsher.
