Two cousins were killed due to electrocution at Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari district on Friday night while working at a chicken farm.

The deceased were Anisur Rahman, 52, and Liton Ahmed, 37.

The incident occurred at 8pm in Khalisha Khutamara area.

According to police and locals, the farm was surrounded by a GI wire fence to protect the chickens from other animals. Liton and Anisur came in contact with live electric wire mistakenly while working in a chicken farm in the area.

Locals rescued the brothers and took them to Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared them dead.

Mesbaul Haque, the hospital resident medical officer, said the injured died before coming to the hospital.

Jaldhaka Police Station OC Kamrul Alam said the bodies were taken to the police station from the Upazila Health Complex. After legal procedure, the bodies of the two brothers were handed over to the families, he added.
