A six-member Election Exploratory Mission from the European Union (EU) arrived in Dhaka to survey the atmosphere surrounding the upcoming national election.

During their visit, the EU delegation will talk to all the stakeholders -- government, political parties, Election Commission, security officials, civil society and media.

The delegation will be visiting Bangladesh till July 23 to assess the situation on the ground ahead of the country's upcoming national poll. 

The delegation led by Chelleri Riccardo includes Deputy Chief Observer of EU Election Observation Mission Dimitra Ioannou, Alves Chritina Dos Ramos, Miller Ian James, Chamagne Christopher and Marie-Helene Enderlin.

The EU, however, did not send election observers in 2018.
