NAOGAON: Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested an alleged smuggler with 22 gold bars weighing 2.75 kilograms from Sahapur Talpukur area under Sadar upazila on Friday morning.

The alleged smuggler is identified as Nasir Khan, 48, son of Alauddin of Muktarpara of the upazila.

Police said on a tip off, a team DB police conducted a drive in the area’s Naogaon-Shahapur highway and arrested Nasir while he was going to Sahpur Talpukur to hand over the bars to a jeweler.

Naogaon Additional Police Super (ASP) Kafil Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

“A case was filed with Sadar Police Station in this connection,” he added.
