A man surrendered to police after allegedly killing his wife over family disputes in Gaibandha district on Saturday (July 8) night.
The man was identified as Mohsin Ali, 27, a resident of Collegepara village under Naldanga union of the upazila, and the victim was Shefali Khatun, 22, daughter of Quader Molla.
According to locals, Mohsin and Shefali got married four years ago. They had locked into altercations over family issues since marriage. On Saturday evening, the couple locked into a fight over trifling matters. At one stage, Mohsin strangled his wife to death and hanged the body from the ceiling of their room with a suicide note to hide the killing, they added.
However, police recovered the body with a suicide note.
Later, at around 8pm, Mohosin surrendered himself at the police station.
Officer-in-charge of Sadullapur Police Station, Mahabur Rahman confirmed the matter.
Being informed, police sent the body to a hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
