Traders have demonstrated after authorities sealed off Gulshan shopping centre on Thursday (July 13).

The situation emerged immediately after the Executive Magistrate of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) shut down the Gulshan shopping centre marking the building risky at 12 pm.

Shopkeepers-employees of the shopping centre blocked Gulshan-1 Golchattar, causing traffic in and around the areas including Gulshan and Banani, Banglanews correspondent reports.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gulshan Division Md. Shahidullah told Banglanews that a building in Gulshan-1 was marked abandoned and risky. 

DNCC officials later today sealed off that building, he said, adding most probably a new building will be constructed in the same place.

The DC, however, said: "We are making arrangements to remove the demonstrators."

Mustafizur Rahman, Assistant Police Commissioner of Gulshan Traffic Division, said that the traffic situation has not yet been brought under control.
