KHAGRACHHARI: An army person was killed in a road accident in Guimara Bazar area under Matiranga Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Zahangir Alam, 33, Lance Nayek of Guimara Region also son of Abul Molla from Shariatpur.

Staff Officer of Guimara Region Major Hasan Arafat told banglanews while crossing a bailey bridge of Guimara Bazar area, a jip (locally known as chander gari) rammed Zahangir Alam from behind, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Army Medical Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead, he added.

Officer-in-Charge of Guimara Thana Abu Yusuf Chowdhury told banglanews that they seized the vehicle from the spot but the driver managed to flee the scene.
