Rail communications between Dhaka and other parts of the country were snapped as contractual employees and workers of the Bangladesh Railway blocked the rail line in the capital.

The agitating workers blocked the rail line at the FDC Rail Gate signal near Karwan Bazar around 10am on Sunday protesting against the outsourcing of workers.

Their demands include permanent employment by regularizing their jobs and cancellation of the outsourcing system.

Dhaka Railway Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ferdous Ahmed, Railway police members rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control.
