The contractual employees and workers of the Bangladesh Railway withdrew their strike as the authorities concerned assured them of discussion in this regard.
The protesters lifted the blockade from the FDC railway crossing adjacent to Karwan Bazar at 2.30 pm and walked towards the railway building.
General Manager (GM) of Bangladesh Railway Eastern Zone Jahangir Hossain and ADC of Tejgaon Zone Hafiz Al Farooq were seen walking with the agitators towards the railway building, Banglanews correspondent reports.
Earlier Jahangir Hossain said they decided to recruit railway employees through outsourcing companies after June. The companies were given a condition that the Railway wanted expert employees.
Earlier, rail communications between Dhaka and other parts of the country were snapped due to the strike in the capital on Sunday (July 16).
The agitating workers blocked the rail line at the FDC Rail Gate signal near Karwan Bazar around 10am on Sunday protesting against the outsourcing of workers.
Their demands included permanent employment by regularizing their jobs and cancellation of the outsourcing system.
