Gazipur: Six suspected dacoits were beaten to death at Chhatirbazar area of Sripur upazila early Wednesday night as they were preparing for robbery.

Sripur thana SI Rahat Khan told banglanews24.com.bd that at about 8:15 pm on Wednesday, the commoners challenged a CNG scooter on Tipirbari road near Dhaka-Mymenshing highway for its suspicious movement.

The passengers of the scooter suddenly opened fire that wounded a local. Angry locals blocked the scooter near Chhatirbazar area and held all six passengers in it. At a point, the mob beat all six of them to death. Police sent the bodies to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue.

Among the deceased, four of them have been identified so far.

Later on, following this incident police detained 4 more suspects.

Shripur thana OC Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan informed that all the deceased people were professional robbers. “Among them, Hafizur Rahman was sacked from service just 3 months ago,” Nazmul said.

SI Rahat Khan filed 3 different cases with Shripur thana in this regard on Thursday morning.
