Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Prof Nikhil Ranjan Dhar and 15 others have been indicted in a case filed over bank recruitment question paper leakage incident.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain passed the order on Monday (July 24) after rejecting the petition submitted for discharging Nikhil and others from the charges in the case.
The case was filed in November 2021 at Badda Police Station under the Public Examinations (Offences) Act following the question leak in recruitment tests of five state-owned banks on November 6, 2021.
On November 10, 2021 the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Shamim Ahmed of the Tejgaon Zonal Team of the Detective Police (DB) filed a charge sheet against 15 people requesting the exemption of Professor Nikhil from the case.
There, the investigation officer said, according to the statement of the accused Delwar in the court, there is no evidence of involvement of Nikhil found. That is why it was not possible to prove the case against him.
Then on January 25, 2022 the court questioned the omission of Nikhil's name in the charge sheet.
On March 20 this year, Nikhil Ranjan Dhar was sent to jail as a court rejected his bail petition.
