Mild heat wave may sweep over northern part

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Monday (July 24) said Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Pabna, Feni and Chuadanga and it may continue further. 

According to the Met office bulletin, Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions; at a few places over Rangpur and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the forecast will remain valid for the next 24 hours commencing from 9am today.

A low pressure area has formed over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, the center of the low to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh.

Country’s maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded by 37.5 degree celsius at Rajshah and minimum temperature today was recorded by 24.5 degree celsius at Bandarban.

Country’s maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 36 millimeters (mm) at Tetulia.
