Television channel NEWS24, a venture of the country’s leading industrial conglomerate Bashundhara Group, steps into the 8th year of operation.

A colourful programme is being organised to mark the founding anniversary of the TV channel at the compound of the East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL), in the capital on Sunday.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan inaugurated the celebration programme by cutting a cake.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan while addressing the event as the chief guest, said: "Currently, all outlets under the EWMGL, the nation's largest media group, are operating with complete freedom, yet it is crucial to ensure the dissemination of accurate information. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for the dissemination of false information. In doing so, we remain dedicated to upholding the spirit of the Liberation War."

Rahul Raha, executive editor of NEWS24, presided over the event.

Besides, Daily Sun Editor-in-Chief Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haque Milan, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, banglanews24.com Editor Jewel Mazhar, Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Muhammad Ali, Daily Sun Editor Md Rezaul Karim, among others, attended the programme.

Later, a representative team of banglanews24.com, led by Jewel Mazhar, greeted Rahul Raha with a bouquet of flowers.

NEWS24 began its operation on July 27, 2016, as an electronic broadcasting media under East West Media Group Limited owned by Bashundhara Group.
