Three people, including the driver of a CNG-run autorickshaw, were killed in a road accident at Shibpur in Narsingdi.

The incident happened at Soyodnagar upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Wednesday (August 3).

The deceased are - Shahin Hosen, 28, son of Tota Munshi of Faridpur, Joz Mia, 23, son of Md. Rokon Uddin of Shibpur, and Nasir Uddin, 25, son of Md. Nazrul Islam of the districts Kamargaon area.

Itakhola highway police outpost Sub-Inspector Md Abu Khayer confirmed the matter. 

He said the auto-rickshaw was hit by an unidentified vehicle while it was about to enter the highway around 12 am, leaving driver Nasir dead on the spot. 

Later, the duty doctor declared Shahin and Joz Mia dead when they were rushed to the hospital, he said. 

The driver along with the vehicle managed to flee the scene immediately after the accident, he said 

Police have recovered the bodies, the SI said, adding after the legal process, the bodies will be handed over to their families.
