At least four people including three women were critically injured due to gas leakage in Ashulia of Savar on Saturday (August 12). 

The incident took place at Anwar Hossain's house in Nayanagar area of Sreepur in Ashulia around 8:30 pm.

The injured are - Nazrul Islam, 45, tenant of the house, Jobeda Begum, 40, Rezia Begum, 30, and Aleya Noor, 35. All of them are workers of local garment factories.

Senior Station Officer of DEPZ Fire Service Pranab Chowdhury confirmed the matter.

He said that when Jobeda turned on the stove to cook last night, the fire suddenly broke out and quickly spread across the kitchen. At that time, four people including three women and one man who were around that kitchen were burnt.

Of the four, Nazrul suffered 40 percent burns, according to the doctor, said the official.
