NARAIL: Two police personnel, including an OC, chopped to injury in a clash with activists of Jamaat and Shibir at Sadar Thana in the district on Wednesday morning.

In the clash, 18 others people, including five by bullet hit, were injured in Ghorakhali and Dumurtala area of the district.

The injured officer-in-charge—Moktar Hossain of the thana--was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Witnesses said Jamaat-Shibir men took place in the area around 7:30am.  At one stage, they started hurling brick-chips, petrol bomb, and cocktails.

On information, police rushed to spot and charged baton opened fire rubber bullets, shotgun bullets to bring the situation under control that triggered a clash between the two sides, leaving 20 people injured including officer-in-charge of Sadar thana.
