Light to moderate rain likely: Met Office

Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9am today (August 17).

According to the Met office bulletin, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country. 

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, added forecast that begins from 9am today.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded by 36.0 degree celsius at Badalgachi and minimum temperature today was recorded by 24.0 degree celsius jointly at Sitakunda and Rangamati.
Country's maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 101 millimeters(mm) at Rangamati.

The sun sets at 06-31 PM today and rises at 05-35 AM tomorrow in the capital.
