S4D event for destitute girls held in capital 

A sport for Development (S4D) was organized by UNICEF jointly with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) in the capital’s Banani on Tuesday (August 22). 

Ms. Noala Skinner, Deputy Regional Director (DRD) and Yuko Kusamichi, Regional Chief of Operations were present from UNICEF Regional Office of South Asia (ROSA), Ms. Elisa Calpona, CP Manager, Monira Hasan, CP Specialist, Md. Raihanul Haque, CP Officer were present at the event.

The guests observed this delightful programme where the vulnerable girls from Karail Slum played football and Kabaddi. 

Child Protection section initiated a partnership with Ministry of Youth and Sport in 2022 to prevent violence against children and harmful practices.

Since the beginning of the year up to now over 6 million sports and games were initiated in the most vulnerable communities nationwide.

The S4D programme will benefit directly 5,000 vulnerable girls and 1,000 boys in Dhaka's Karail, Banani by this year.
