Dr Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder has been made the finance secretary while Md Nurul Alam made energy secretary, the public administration ministry said in a notice on Wednesday.

Khairuzzaman Mozumder will replace the outgoing finance secretary Fatima Yasmin, who was appointed as the first Bangladeshi vice-president of The Asian Development Bank in June. She was the first female finance secretary in the country.  

Khairuzzaman had been serving as the energy division secretary since January, 2023. He joined Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) in the 11th Batch in April 1993.

He had also served as an additional secretary of the finance division before being promoted to the secretary.

Md. Nurul Alam, Additional Secretary of the Power Division, will replace existing energy secretary Dr Khairuzzaman Majumder.

A gazette notification by the Ministry of Public Administration was issued in this regard on Wednesday (August 23).
