Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a raid recovered 10 gold bars worth Tk 1.16 crore at Johorpur Tech border of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila on Tuesday (August 30) night.

53 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Nahid Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said a special team of BGB battalion took position on Jaharpur Tech border based on secret information. Later, an unidentified smuggler sensing the presence of BGB left the bag full of 10 gold bars weighing 1.165 Kilograms and fled the scene. 

An operation is underway to nab the smuggler who escaped, he added.
