The economy of Bangladesh is performing better than other nations despite the uncertainty, said Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday (August 31).
He made the remark at the end of the US-Bangladesh Business Council meeting in the conference room of the Ministry of Finance at the Secretariat in the capital.
When asked about the price hike of the essential commodities in the country, the minister replied: “What was the inflation rate when we took charge?”
He also said: “When we took charge the inflation rate was 12.6 percent... despite this rate, the government managed to reduce the rate to 7.5 percent.”
The minister blamed Russia-Ukrain war as the reason for the price hike in Bangladesh, saying still Bangladesh is economically performing better than other countries.
The Minister also suggested the journalists present in the meeting think positively.
