Dhaka's rail link with other parts of the country was restored after five hours as police dispersed the protesters who blocked Malibagh level crossing demanding regularization of their jobs.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hayatul Islam Khan confirmed the matter.
He said the railway police gave the protesters a time limit of 2:30 pm. Since they did not leave the railway line within time, the police applied minimal force to disperse them.
Earlier, the contractual railway workers were protesting since 10:00am.
Due to the protest rail connectivity between Dhaka and other districts was temporarily disrupted.
