A huge quantity of 55kg gold worth Tk15 crore is reportedly missing from a warehouse of customs at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
Missing items are gold bars, ornaments, and valuables seized from passengers, sources said.
Despite some individuals involved in the gold theft case from the private warehouse of the Customs House at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport not revealing their identities, the authorities have filed a case this time.
Accusing some of the identified persons, Assistant Revenue Officer Sohrab Hossain filed a case with the Airport Police Station around 11 pm on Sunday (September 3).
According to the case statement, a theft of 55.51 kilograms of gold occurred from the warehouse of the Airport Customs House.
The specific number of unknown accused individuals is not mentioned. Furthermore, he also mentioned that no one has been arrested in connection with this case as of now.Airport Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Enayet Kabir Munna confirmed the matter.
Besides, customs officials have found a box containing gold unavailable as someone took those away breaking the locker.
Law enforcement agencies including Criminal Investigation Department are holding an investigation into the incident.
