151 to be elected unopposed

Dhaka: Some 151 candidates, mostly Awami League nominated aspirants, are set to be elected uncontested in the upcoming 10th general election as the BNP-led 18-party alliance boycotted the polls.

Sources from the Election Commission (EC) confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Most of them are heavyweight candidates of Awami League.

Of them, 128 candidates are of AL, 17 are of HM Ershad’s Jatiya Party and one of Anwar Hossain Manju-led Jatiya Party-JP and the rest three from JSD and two are from Bangladesh Workers Party.
