Bangladeshi youth shot dead by BSF in Panchagarh

A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead allegedly by the members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Mominpara border in Panchagarh sadar upazila early Thursday (September 7).

The deceased was identified as Nur Alam, 35, son of Abdul Zabbar, a resident of Nur Nagar Bakshipara village under Boda upazila.

According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), BSF members opened fire on some Bangladesh nationals who were attempting to cross the border from India along Monipara border early morning, leaving Nur Alam dead on the spot.

Later, BSF members left Nur Alam's body near a tea garden at Momin Para.

Panchagarh Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Latif Mia confirmed the matter of death.

“Nur might be killed while bringing cows,” said Harivasa Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Syed Noor-e Alam to Banglanews.

Meanwhile, Banglanews correspondent tried to contact Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Asaduzzaman Hakim several times in this regard, but he could not be reached.
