At least three people including two pedestrians were killed and 10 others injured after a passenger bus overturned in Cumilla’s Chandina today (September 12).

The incident took place on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Harikhola Upazila around 10 pm.

The deceased were identified as Alomgir Hosen, 38, Bahram Mia, 60, Abul Kalam, 40.

Of the injured, five were identified as Millat, 23, Ariful Islam, 28, from Naogaon, Sabina, 35, from Dhaka’s Mogbazar area, and her 10-year-old daughter Tanha. 

Elliotganj Highway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector Nazmul Huda confirmed the matter.

He said a Chattogram bound passenger bus overturned after the driver lost control over his steering to save a motorcycle near Harikhola Majhar area, leaving two pedestrians dead on the spot.

However, the motorcycle rider died on the way to hospital and the injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital, he also said.

‘One of the dead bodies was handed over to the family members and the rest of two were kept in the police outpost,’ the official added.
