Detective Branch (DB) of Police has arrested eight custom officers in connection with 55 kg gold stolen from the departmental warehouse at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The arrested four assistant revenue officers of customs and four constables were in charge of the warehouse security. 

Arrested assistant revenue officers are Md Shahidul Islam, 36, Saidul Islam Shahid, 33, Akram Sheikh, 36, and Md Masum Rana, 33. 

The constables are Md Mozammel Haque, 35, Md Niamat Howladar, 27, Md Rezaul Karim, 36 and Md Afzal Hossain, 29.

Besides, about 94 bhori of gold were recovered from them. The arrested officials have been handed over to the court seeking a 10-day remand.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) Badiuzzaman Zillu confirmed the matter on Wednesday (September 13).
