RANGPUR: A faction of Jatiya Party called dawn-to-dusk hartal in eight districts of the division for Wednesday.
Former Member of Parliament Moshiur Rahman Ranga, also Jatiya Party (JP) leader, came up with the announcement of the hartal from a sudden rally at around 12:45pm Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, at least 20 people were injured as the Moshiur Rahman group and the group of another JP leader Mustafa, also former sadar upazila chairman, locked into a clash at Jahaj Company intersection area at around 12:15pm.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana Sahabuddin Khalifa confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel along with police were deployed to thwart further untoward situation.
