Adilur Rahman Khan, Secretary of human rights organisation Odhikar and director ASM Nasiruddin Elan have filed an appeal with the High Court (HC) against a tribunal verdict in a case filed in 2013under the now defunct Information and Communication Technology Act.

Their lawyer Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to media on Monday.

According to the verdict, they were sentenced to two years in jail. Besides, they have been served one month of imprisonment in default to pay a fine of Tk 10,000.

Judge AM Julfiker Hayet of Dhaka's Cyber Tribunal passed the verdict on September 14 in the case of creating confusion about the death toll in the Hefazet Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel a decade ago.
