Mozena for freedom of expression

DHAKA: US ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena Tuesday urged the government to give freedom to all political parties to express their opinions.

The US diplomat came up with the plea while talking to journalists at foreign ministry after meeting with foreign secretary M Shahidul Haque.

In response to a question on 154 uncontested elected lawmakers in upcoming parliament election, he said, “A dialogue is going on between Awami League and opposition BNP. So, it shouldn’t be right to make any comment about this.”

He said, “We do not know them who are conducting violence. But violence is not acceptable to us whoever is doing.”

Mozena also disclosed that the first meeting of Ticfa forum will be held on next February or March in Dhaka.

Earlier, the US diplomat also met with Finance Minister AMA Muhith.
