GOPALGANJ: State Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advocate M Qamrul Islam Tuesday reiterated that the trial of war criminals would be completed within the tenure of the present government, may what come.

“Jamaat-BNP allies are trying to save the war criminals creating anarchy and enforcing hartal in the country. The trial process is taking time, but no one can scuttle it,” he said after paying tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his mazar at Tungipara.

He also said the trial process would get a boost after the jurists would start working at the level of international standards.

Qamrul Islam once again hurled his blistering words at BNP founder and slain President Zia.  “Ziaur Rahman had rehabilitated the killers of 1971 and 1975,” he said.

“He killed the freedom fighters. He had destroyed the spirit of the War of Liberation and thus caused delays in holding the trial of the Bangabandhu murder case,” the state minister for law further said.

He asserted that the verdict of Bangabandhu killing case would be executed completely after brining back the fugitives from abroad.

The minister inaugurated the District Legal Aid office in the afternoon.
