UNICEF Bangladesh Hosts Dhaka Divisional ToT on Self-Defence

UNICEF Bangladesh has taken a step towards enhancing the safety and empowerment of Children and adolescences in the Dhaka Division with the successful conclusion of the Dhaka Divisional Training of Trainers (ToT) on Self-Defence program. 

This transformative initiative was meticulously guided by Elisa Calpona, Child Protection Manager, UNICEF Bangladesh, and efficiently managed by Monira Hasan, Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF Bangladesh.

The Dhaka Divisional ToT on Self-Defence was designed to provide guidelines for local trainers and volunteers on how to effectively conduct self-defence training. The program aimed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to protect themselves and their communities, fostering a sense of security and self-empowerment.

Elisa Calpona, a recognized expert in the field of child protection, played a pivotal role in shaping the program's tactical direction. Her extensive expertise ensured that the self-defence guidelines and training were tailored to address the specific needs and challenges faced in the Dhaka Division.

Monira Hasan, an accomplished Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF Bangladesh, managed the program with precision and dedication, ensuring that participants received comprehensive training in self-defence techniques and effective training methodologies.

SM Latif, a special guest, Joint Secretary and Project Director, Accelerating Protection for Children (APC) Project, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, graced the event with his presence and motivational insights. 

Md.Rezaul Korim, district sports officer, Dhaka, Ministry of Youth and Sports was present in the program as a President.

In recognition of the critical role of physical fitness and sports in self-defence, the District Sports Officers from Dhaka and Narayanganj contributed their expertise to the training program. Their involvement emphasized the role of sports and physical activity in building self-confidence and personal safety.

Participants in the program included the Child Protection Community Mobilizer (CPCM) team in the Dhaka Division, alongside Master Trainers Soul Sacha and Kajol Das. Together, they formed a dedicated group committed to the cause of child protection and empowerment, enriching the learning experience for all involved.

UNICEF Bangladesh expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, trainers, and guests for their unwavering support in making the Dhaka Divisional ToT on Self-Defence a remarkable success.
