DHAKA: The 72-hr nonstop blockade, called by BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway for third consecutive day across the country amid stray incidents of violence.
Some Shibir activists brought out a brisk procession and blasted cocktails in capital’s Demra area at around 6:30am.
Later, the blockade supporters set fire to tyres and fled the scene.
In Chittagong, pickets torched a goods-laden covered van in Nayabazar Biswaroad area of Halishahar in the port city at around 2:30am Thursday.
On information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at around 4:00am.
In Narayanganj, blockaders torched two CNG-run auto-rickshaws in the metropolis in the morning.
Besides, sources concerned said that law enforcers have taken tight security measures to maintain law and order situation.
Earlier, blockade supporters created panic among people by throwing cocktails, attacking and vandalism across the country.
