11th polls if BNP shuns violence

DHAKA: Prime Minister, also president of Awami League Sheikh Hasina said there could be 11th general election if they can reach in a consensus with the opposition BNP.

She came up with the observation in a meeting of AL Executive Committee and Election Monitoring Committee at the Gano Bhaban on Thursday evening.

Sheikh Hasina said, “Discussion with the opposition will go on. We will dissolve the parliament and go for another election after the upcoming general election if the opposition stops hartal-blockades and we reach in a consensus with them.”

Indicating the opposition leader Khaleda Zia, Prime Minister said, “Stop this game of hartal and blockade. The process of election has started. You (Khaleda Zia) have missed the train of election.”

The Premier also warned the opposition leader saying stern actions would be taken to save the lives and properties of the people if they did not stop hartal and blockades.
