Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman on Thursday (October 19) said there is no specific threat or security concern during Durga Puja, which starts tomorrow.
He said security measures have been designed considering the upcoming national elections and all kinds of threats.
DMP chief said while talking to reporters after inspecting the security system of Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital this afternoon.
He said puja will be celebrated in 248 mandaps in Dhaka city this year and adequate measures have been taken for the security of the mandap on the occasion of puja.
“From tomorrow for 5 days DMP will conduct security operations through Ansar and local volunteers,” DMP chief said.
“A large number of plainclothes policemen will be deployed. We have had several meetings with the puja organizers,” he added.
