Case filed for Gopibagh six-murder

DHAKA: A murder case was filed following the incident of slaughtering six people to death in capital’s Gopibagh area under Wari Thana early Sunday.

Victim’s son Abdullah-Al-Faruk filed the case with Wari police station.

Wari police station Officer-in-Charge Tapan Chandra Saha confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on Saturday evening, some six people were hacked to death at a house in Gopibagh area under Wari Thana of the capital on Saturday evening.

Deputy Police Commissioner of Wari Division Ilias Sharif told banglanews that, of the deceased, the elderly man was identified as Lutfur Rahman Faruk, 60, who used to introduce himself as a ‘pir’ (saint).

The other victims were Monir Hossain, son of Lutfur, Manju, Khadem of the ‘pir’ (saint), and Lutfur’s followers--Shaheen, Rasel, and Mojibur Rahman.

One Mofizuddin, resident of the area, told banglanews that they heard screaming ‘robber’, ‘robber’ at the house around 6:30pm. Later, they heard noises and found two bodies lying floor at of the house no-64/6 at Ramkrishna Mission Road in the city.

Deputy Police Commissioner of Wari Division Ilias Sharif told banglanews that four of the bodies were recovered from a room and two others from another room.

On information, around 7:30pm, police rushed in and recovered the bodies, he added.
