KHULNA: At least 20 shops were gutted in a fire at Aysha Cotton Mill in Bezerdanga area under Fultola upazila of the city on Sunday morning.

The fire originated at the cotton mill at about 8:15am and soon engulfed adjacent 20 shops of a market.

On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire after one hour effort.

Phultala Thana Officer-in-Charge told banglanews that fire might have originated from electric short circuit.

The extent of loss could not be estimated immediately, he added.
