The police on Sunday (October 29) evening arrested the person who identified himself as an advisor to the president of the United States during Saturday's event organised by BNP at the party's Nayapaltan office in Dhaka. 

Mia Jahidul Islam Arif was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this afternoon while attempting to depart for the US.

A source from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Earlier at an event in Narayanganj, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that the identity of the person has been revealed.

His actual name is Mia Jahidul Islam Arif, a Bangladeshi-American residing in the state of Arizona. He hails from Ullapara in Sirajganj.
