The BNP today (October 29) announced nationwide blockades for three days starting October 31 protesting the killing of the party activists and the arrests of its leaders and activists following Saturday's rally.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a virtual press briefing this evening.
According to him, the fresh programme has been announced protesting the killing of the party activists and the arrests of party leaders and activists, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
BNP also demanded elections under a non-partisan interim government.
Earlier, DB picked up BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from his Gulshan residence in Dhaka around 9:30am and took him to its office on Minto Road in the capital.
On October 28, BNP organised its grand rally in front of its Nayapaltan central office on Saturday with the participation of thousands of leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies to press home their one-point demand for holding the upcoming national election under a non-party government.
Later, two persons including police constable Amirul Islam Parvez were killed and several others injured during the clash.
