The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has deployed its 460 patrol teams throughout the country amid the ongoing blockade called by BNP, Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties and the unrest in the readymade garments (RMG) sector.
RAB's legal and media wing senior assistant director ASP ANM Imran Khan confirmed the matter.
A total of 160 patrol teams of RAB are deployed in the capital, he said.
A total of 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces were also deployed across the country, including 32 in Dhaka and adjacent districts, to maintain law and order situation.
The nationwide hartal and the second day of the fifth spell of opposition-enforced blockade for 48 hours are underway on Thursday across the country.
