A total of 235 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces were deployed across the country, including 28 in Dhaka and adjacent districts, to maintain law and order situation.

BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Sunday (November 19). 

Besides, an adequate number of BGB personnel were kept on standby to promptly respond to any emergency in the country.

Earlier today, the 48-hour nationwide hartal called by the BNP and its allies to protest the Election Commission's announcement of the polls schedule has begun at 6:00am.

This is the second round of hartal called by the BNP since October 28. It has also enforced five rounds of blockades within the time.
