4 killed in Comilla road crash

COMILLA: At least four people, including woman and child, were killed and eight others injured in a road accident at Daudkandi upazila of the district on Wednesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Yasmin Akhter, 25 and her daughter Jannat, 5, from the Sadar area of Daudkandi Upazila, Abdul Motin, 32, driver of CNG-run auto-rickshaw, hailed from Tujarbhanga village and Benu, 40, from Rishipara village of the same upazila.

Witness Advocate Enamul Hasan Ripon told banglanews a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a Pajero jeep on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway around 5:50pm, leaving three passengers of CNG dead on the spot and nine others injured.

The injured were rushed to Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared one Benu dead.

Physician Anisur Rahman told banglanews that of the injured, one died, four were given primary treatment and four were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Highway emergency source confirmed the matter to banglanews.
