The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned all kinds of campaigns and processions from January 5 to January 9 to keep the atmosphere peaceful ahead of 12th National Assembly elections.
The Public Security Department of the Ministry has issued a circular in this regard following Election Commission (EC) directive today (December 22).
According to Section 78 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972, effective measures shall be taken against calling, holding or attending any public meeting and organizing or participating in any procession or procession within 48 hours before the commencement of polling and 48 hours after the close of polling in any constituency, said the circular.
The circular also said voting will be held on January 7 at 8 am. As such, the ban will be effective from 8 am on January 5 to 8 am on January 9.
