The Ministry of Home Affairs has imposed a three-day ban on motorcycle riding across the country during the 12th parliamentary election scheduled for January 7.
The home ministry on Friday issued a circular mentioning that the ban will be enforced from 12 am on January 5 to 12 am on January 8.
A ban will be imposed on the movement of taxicabs, microbuses, pickups, trucks, launches and engine-operated boats, except those running on specific routes, in the electoral area ahead of the national election, read the circular.
The ban will be enforced from 12 am on January 6 to 12 am on January 7, according to the circular.
However, candidates, members of law enforcement agencies, armed forces members, officials of different administrations and authorised observers and election agents cannot use those vehicles.
Besides, election observers and polling agents will be able to use such vehicles on condition of pasting the sticker provided by the Election Commission.
And the vehicles moving on the highway will be kept out of the purview of the restriction, it said.
