RANGPUR: An army man was killed in a road accident on Rangpur-Dhaka highway of Jagannathpur area under Pirganj upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as DMT Tofail Ahmed, 19, son of Nijam Uddin, hailed from Charmachanad village under Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh district.

Inspector (Investigation) of Pirganj Thana Sirajul Islam Siraj told banglanews that a rashly driven potato-laden truck knocked an army pickup while patrolling the area, leaving Tofail Ahmed dead on the spot.

A case was filed with the thana in this connection, he added.
