Bashundhara Group distributes blankets among Rupganj people 

Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest business conglomerate, has distributed 10,000 blankets among cold-hit people in Kayetpara union of Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

On behalf of the Group, noted litterateur Imdadul Haq Milan was the chief guest at the blanket distribution ceremony at Yead Ali High School on Monday.

East West Property Development (EWPD) Senior Executive Director Liakat Hossain and Senior General Manager Abu Hena and Nawra Hazi Yead Ali High School Chairman Mohammad Mosharraf Bhuiyan were present among other local dignitaries.

Addressing the programme, Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haq Milan said Bashundhara Group always stands by the poor during winter or other calamities.

“We are not here to occupy space. Bashundhara Group does not occupy anyone's place. There is nothing forced here. Bashundhara Group does not work to cheat people. Bashundhara Group wants to keep the people of this area well,” he said.

Bashundhara Group has planned to distribute 2 lakh blankets across the country, including 25 thousand in Rangpur and 10 thousand in Kushtia.

In his speech, Imdadul Haq Milan said that Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan always wants to do something for the poor.

“We have a social platform of Bashundhara Shuvosangho where 2 million boys and girls work as volunteers across the country. We aim to stand by everyone's side in their endeavours for positive impact and meaningful contributions,” he said.

Under the guidance of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, the platform provided one-month food assistance to 48 thousand families in 16 districts of North Bengal.

“There is no industrial group in Bangladesh that spends so much in a month on support. We are still spending Tk 24 crore per month helping people,” added Milan.

Mentioning that Bashundhara Group works for the welfare of the people, Milan said, “We have 50 schools across the country where poor students study. We give them clothes, books, and notebooks. We have more than 50 training centres where many women learn sewing. After receiving training, we give each woman a sewing machine,” he said.
