Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today (January 28) said that Beijing has been working with Myanmar to have a cease fire in Rakhine state to pave the way for Rohingya repatriation.
He told reporters after a courtesy call with foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at the foreign ministry in the capital.
Yao Wen said, "You must be aware that under Chinese mediation, we wish to have a cease fire in the Rakhine State."
Regarding the Rohingya repatriation, he urged all to be confident on the ongoing tripartite collaboration among China, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Responding to a question on Teesta project, the ambassador said China is committed to help Bangladesh in this regard but it requires proposal from the Bangladesh side first.
