THAKURGAON: Miscreants beat to death an assistant presiding officer by attacking a polling centre in Raipur union under sadar upazila of the district at around 11:00pm Saturday.

The deceased was identified as SI Zobaidul Haque.

During the time, two police members were injured in a clash with them.

Sources said miscreants attacked the Chhetrikura Government Primary School polling centre of Raipur union of the upazila and beaten Zobaidul Haque to death.

Confirming the matter, additional deputy commissioner of Thakurgaon Dr Moksed Ali told banglanews they deployed additional law enforcers including Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel and brought the situation under control.
